Five vehicles were involved in a pile up on the N-332 near Santa Pola on Tuesday evening, with six people suffering injuries, three of them serious.

The crash occurred at around 18:30 when a vehicle travelling from El Altet to Santa Pola, with two occupants on board, crashed into the vehicles on the N332, near to the abandoned Rocas Blancas hotel.

The immediate chain of events saw numerous collisions involving a total of four more cars, one of which collided with the wall of a restaurant, resulting in the driver having to be extracted by the attending emergency crews.

The initial investigation reveals that a brake problem may have been the cause of the collision, but a full investigation is underway.
