However, there were 9,503 people seriously injured, which has dropped slightly from the 9,574 in 2015. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Luis Aguilera, revealed the figures at a road safety and sustainability conference, and covers the main road network throughout the country, except Catalonia and the Basque Country.
