Investigations are underway to determine the causes of two road traffic incidents in the Valencia region which have resulted in two cyclists being killed.

The first incident occurred just after 11:00 on the N-332, between the Alicante towns of Guardamar del Segura and Santa Pola, in the La Marina area of Elche.

The 51-year old male cyclist left the road along the right hand side and fell into the embankment.

An emergency ambulance took the cyclist to hospital in Elche where he died as a result of the incident.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old cyclist was involved in an incident at around 15:45 on Saturday on a road located within the municipality of Alcossebre in Castellón. A paramedic attended this incident by helicopter, but emergency services could only confirm the death of the rider.
