Is It possible to lose points on your licence when cycling?

Latest rumour amongst expats – Is it true you have to wear Hi-Viz jacket whilst riding a bicycle and if you don’t, you will be fined and points on your driving licence. Is this yet ANOTHER “urban myth”??

1. What do you think about this matter?. True or False

It is false, the Traffic Department can only take points off a driving licence if you have got one, so if the law does not force you to have a licence to ride a bicycle, this is not possible.

To ride a bicycle, you do not need a driving licence, it would be unfair to lose points only for those who have a licence.

Moreover we can post an article about the traffic offences which make you lose points, if you have doubts please have a look on it.

2. When do you have to wear the Hi-Viz jacket in your bicycle?

– At night (between sunset and sunrise)
– In bad weather conditions when the visibility is reduced.
