Officers from the Guardia Civil have presented a 31 year old Moroccan national to the courts, believed to be responsible for two hit and runs in Murcia.

The first incident occurred in Totana on the 17th of April when a 61 year old woman, of Ecuadorian nationality, has hit by a van on the RMD-22 road. The woman died as a result of the injuries sustained in the impact.

The investigation then revealed that the same suspect had been behind the wheel of another vehicle which hit a group of French cyclists on the RM D4 road in Mazarrón on the 24th of April. One of those cyclists, a 61 year old male, was killed in the collision and another two sustained injuries from the impact.

It was also found that both the vehicles had been stolen from farms near to both incidents.

Moreover, the man was also the alleged perpetrator of an assault on an 81 year old male in Mazarrón on the 23rd of April, during which the victim was knocked unconscious.

The suspect is known to the police and has been remanded in custody before appearing in court in Cartagena.
