The new short-stay, pick-up and drop-off area at Alicante-Elche airport will be opened on Tuesday. The improvement work has cost 116,568.48 euro.
The new “Exprés” car park will offer 80 places for 15 minutes of free parking and replaces the current open drop-off and collection zones which currently a short stop of 5 minutes but are frequently abused by drivers who leave their vehicle for longer.
However, drivers need to be aware that should you stay longer than 15 minutes in the new zone, you will be charged a fee which is actually higher than if you were to use the traditional airport car park.
The new car park will also mean that vehicle movements are recorded, which will please the legal taxi drivers as the information could be used to clamp down on pirate and illegal operators.
There is also no other alternative available for dropping off and picking up, thus providing even more control and monitoring of vehicle movements around the terminal building.
