Not Driving in the Right Hand Lane

Offence: Not Driving in the Right Hand Lane.

Not driving in the right-hand, normal driving lane, whether it hinders other traffic or not, and irrespective of the number of lanes available, will result in a fine.

Fine: 200 euro

Reason: The “normal” driving lane in Spain is the right-hand lane. In fact, the law not only says that we must drive on the right, it also says we must drive as far to the right as possible, subject to anything that might prevent this. Therefore, there is no reason to be in any lane other than the right-hand one, unless we are overtaking or there are other restrictions.
