Every October in the UK, motorists are reminded of one of the most critical — yet often overlooked — components of vehicle safety: the tyres.
Road safety doesn’t stop in September. Halloween brings children in dark costumes, excited and distracted. Christmas and the Three Kings add heavy traffic, crowded streets, and more risk of theft.
From 10–14 November 2025, the Guardia Civil and DGT will intensify checks on school buses. Vehicles and drivers will be inspected for documentation, licences, rest times, speed, and alcohol/drug compliance.
Each day, hundreds of thousands of pupils in Spain use school buses. While statistically safe, risks remain. Children must always wear seatbelts if fitted, and remain seated. Never cross behind a bus, and wait for the driver’s signal before crossing in front at least three metres away. Campaigns later this year will monitor seatbelt use and driver safety to ensure journeys remain safe.
For anyone driving on Spanish roads, understanding what constitutes a “roadworthy” vehicle is paramount. Beyond mere appearance, a car’s fitness for the road is a matter of safety, compliance, and legal obligation.
