A category B licence in Spain allows one to drive cars and certain other vehicles such as those powered by alternative fuels and towing trailers, with specific restrictions. Holding this licence for a while enhances permissible vehicle types, including mopeds, small motorcycles up to 125cc, and tricycles. Spain’s DGT plans to change traffic laws, explaining how drivers must give way to emergency vehicles, an act previously based on courtesy. Motorbikes may use hard shoulders during congestion under certain conditions. New rules will prohibit overtaking in adverse weather, mandating all traffic to use the righthand lane. Creating an emergency corridor for service vehicles will be obligatory. These changes, aimed at improving safety, are set to be enacted in 2025.
