Two key preventative measures are emphasised: regularly checking tyre condition, as worn tyres increase the risk, and significantly reducing speed in wet conditions, even on familiar roads. If aquaplaning occurs, the advice is to remain calm, grip the steering wheel firmly, avoid hard braking to prevent wheel lock-up, and gently correct the car’s trajectory as grip is regained, without making sudden steering movements.
