SPEED is the focus of attention by the traffic police all this week, with the Guardia Civil, assisted by colleagues in the Local and Regional Police in places, monitoring for excessive and inappropriate speed more closely.
Some schools in the UK have already finished for Easter, and so tourists are arriving in many places in preparation for the celebrations.
We will give you the specific predictions shortly, but Easter week sees a gradual buildup of traffic, as many people start to head from the inland areas to the coast to celebrate the long weekend, which differs around the country, taking in Easter Thursday through to the following Monday, with several variations, so it is best to check locally for your holidays.
Easter week also sees lots of processions, usually, but not always, taking place in the evening, which, in turn, brings local road closures.
The weekend starts to wind down locally on Easter Sunday afternoon, which is when many people start to return home, although some remain until the Monday, depending on their local holiday schedule.
As the month continues, we then look towards 1 May, a national holiday, celebrating and recognising the workers, and we also have two traffic monitoring campaigns in May, the first, around the middle of the month, focussing on the conventional road network, then school buses at the end.
