The Director General of Industry, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Ministry of Industry, Víctor Audera, announced this week that the government is to renew its commitment to greener motoring, through the launch of the fifth version of the Plan PIMA Aire, aimed at encouraging the purchase of environmentally friendly commercial vehicles.

The announcement was made during the most recent motor industry and manufacturers conference at the Barcelona Motor Show.

Although he was unable to reveal details of the latest plan, Audera indicated that the idea behind Plan PIMA Aire 5 is to be “friendlier to the environment”, a motion echoed by the Director General of Quality and Environmental Assessment and Natural Environment in the Ministry of Environment, Guillermina Yanguas.

During the last such subsidy plan, which started in December last year, 9.6 million euro in funding was provided to encourage the purchase of eco-friendly commercial vehicles, as well as pedal-assist bicycles.

The plan for renewing commercial vehicles operate similar to the Plan PIVE which offers subsidy to owners of older private cars.
