A holiday weekend for some, with celebrations around St Patrick´s Day which is on Monday, and Father´s Day in Spain on Wednesday, the roads of Spain might be a little busier than usual.

Weekend
Generally speaking, there are two major problems on the road at this time of year, the first being weekends when we get a lot of people coming from the towns and the cities towards coastal and leisure areas.
So, the general flow of traffic seems to be flowing from the towns or cities on a Friday evening and Saturday morning towards these areas and returning on a Sunday evening.
The Weather
The second complication at this time of year is, of course, of weather. You’re really, really, really need to check the weather before you set off on any long journey, because the weather conditions can change.
In a very short distance in high inland areas there might be snow or ice packs. In some areas there might be rain and in others there might of course be wind.
You can always check the website AEMET, which is the Spanish Met Office, or the DGT for traffic advice and there’s links to both of these on the front page of the N332 website.
Father´s Day
As well as that on Wednesday the 19th of March it is Father’s Day in Spain, which is one of the most important national holidays. So, a lot of celebrations will be taking place around that, with families gathering together and going for meals and also in some areas going towards the cemeteries and other places, so that will be a particularly busy day both before and after and in some places during as well.
Remember always check the traffic conditions on the DGT website before you set off and the link is on our website N332.es
St Patrick´s Day
This weekend, sees the Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations around the globe and in Spain it’s no different, with many communities coming together when everybody is Irish for the day, and of course, we want you to have a fantastic time if you celebrating, but of course, we want you to stay safe, so remember, if you are going to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day at any time before, during or after, leave the car at home, use public transport or a dedicated driver, anything other than driving.
Enjoy it, make the most of it, but don’t drink and drive.
