The General Directorate of Traffic, in its work to improve the service it provides to citizens every day, continues to expand the procedures related to driving licences or vehicles that can be presented or carried out electronically, without the need to make an appointment or go in person to the Provincial and local Traffic headquarters.

Main novelties in the miDGT APP

The miDGT application, which allows, among many other things, the driver or owner of a vehicle to carry both the driving licence and the rest of the vehicle documentation with full legal validity throughout the national territory on their mobile, has already been of 8.3 million downloads since its launch in March 2020.

During this time, 20 million accesses to the digital driving and circulation licences have been requested, around 2 million updates of the contact and address data have been made, more than 6 million queries of the points balance and points have been acquired. In addition, through the application, users have generated more than 130,000 vehicle reports, have requested more than 10,000 duplicate documents, and have been able to carry out more than 500,000 environmental badge queries, among other things.

Throughout this year, new functionalities have been implemented in the miDGT app, such as the possibility of requesting duplicates of the vehicle’s physical documentation, managing a prior appointment for any procedure that requires to be carried out in person or consulting the note of the driving test.

In addition, the application also allows you to write down a temporary leave or geolocate the nearest centres of interest such as ITVs, driver recognition centres, driving schools or authorised vehicle treatment centres.

Telematic services

But, with the aim of continuing to improve citizen communication with the Administration to make it more comfortable, fast and with the same guarantees as if it were in person, citizens not only have this application to interact with the Traffic department.

At the Electronic Headquarters you can find and carry out all the procedures related to the driver’s licence or your vehicle: request a duplicate licence, a temporary leave, pay a fine or consult important information related to the DGT. The office is accessible in all the official languages of the State (Spanish, Catalan, Basque and Galician) and also in German, English and French.

Information on all procedures can also be obtained through telephone 060, for citizen service, and directly make changes of address, payment of fines, driver IDs, duplicate documents or manage representation accreditation.
