New Speed Detectors Warn Drivers Direct

A new method of trying to control speeding motorists has been implemented on a stretch of a road in Sevilla, hoping that by advising the drivers of speeding vehicles direct that they are breaking the law might make them more aware of their actions.

On the A-49 main road there is a new matrix display which has speed detection and ANPR equipment fitted.

If the sign identifies a vehicle speeding, it illuminates giving the registration number of the offending vehicle and a warning that you are breaking the law, as well as a reminder of the maximum permitted speed on the stretch of road.

Given the success of the initial trial, the system will now be gradually rolling out across various other parts of Spain.
