Border Patrol officers from the National Police became suspicious of a vehicle parked in the car park at Alicante-Elche airport. The age of the vehicle indicated by the number plates on the car didn´t seem to match the apparent physical condition and age of the vehicle.

As such, the officers carried out a more thorough inspection and found the number plates to be fake, correctly identifying the vehicle as one reported as stolen from the Benidorm area.

The subsequent investigation led the officers to believe that the owner himself parked the vehicle at the airport, and changed the number plates, before claiming the 20,600 euro from the insurers.

The man has been arrested and charged for the crimes, whereas the vehicle has been delivered to the insurance company as the now rightful owners.
