The Mayor of Torrevieja, José Manuel Dolón, held a press conference on Thursday in which he explained that the project to widen the N-332 main road as it passes Torrevieja is continuing on course, as planned, and at a “good pace”.

Dolón, who stated that, “I am permanently in contact with the Ministry of Development through a person of the maximum confidence of Minister Ábalos”, explained how, “the deadlines are being met as planned, and the drafting of the project is in process and at a good pace”.

He added that “the term of the four phases of the layout is 12 months, so It must be delivered before June 23, 2019. Therefore, it is expected that during said month and coinciding with the execution of the fourth phase of the initial layout the relative to the construction project, whose delivery time is 6 months”.

With the data revealed, the Mayor explained that, “the execution of the work must be, therefore, included in the Budget of the year 2020”, and, “what did not make sense is what had been done so far, budgeting a million to look good and comply with the file and then do nothing. Now we have the certainty that the project has been awarded and once the project of the layout is completed, the construction project will start, from there we will know how much it will cost and will be budgeted with objective and real data and not with a simple amount that was guessed”.

Dolón explained that “the first two phases of the project comprise 40% of it and with the completion of the third phase we will reach 60%.”

Likewise, the commitment has been reached by the Ministry that, “soon and at the beginning of March they will send us a communication where they will collect documentarily at what moment is the unfolding of the Torrevieja variant”.

José Manuel Dolón has expressed that, “I am happy that finally, and thanks to the intervention of this City Council, it was possible for the Generalitat Valenciana to clarify the situation and unlock the project”.
