On Tuesday, the Base Aérea de Talavera la Real (Badajoz) will be the location of a mock plane crash, aimed at testing the emergency services in the event of a real incident.

The training exercise will see all elements of the emergency services working together as if a real crash has happened, in order to identify both strengths and weaknesses in their operation and communication protocols.

As a result of the incidents, there will be a number of road closures around the base in Extremadura, between 10:00 and 14:00.

This sort of drill is common practice for the emergency teams. During this last month alone there have been mock rescues at sea, a training exercise at one of the nuclear power plants and even a fire evacuation exercise at Alicante-Elche airport.
