Officers from the Guardia Civil in Castellon rescued an owl who was found badly injured on the hard shoulder of the AP-7 motorway in the Alcalá de Xivert area.

Road maintenance workers reported finding the bird at kilometre 382 of the motorway, with officers from the SEPRONA wildlife and environmental division of the Guardia Civil responding.

On account of the severity of injuries suffered, it is believed that the animal may have impacted with a vehicle, most likely a truck.

The bird was taken to the Font del Vidre animal recovery centre in Pobla de Benifassà for treatment.
