This weekend, a passenger in a taxi videoed a scene that brought shock and horror to those who have since seen the video, a cyclist, wearing flip-flops, travelling at 100 kilometres per hour along a motorway on Mallorca.

The cyclist was not under their own power, but was clinging with one hand to the back of a van as it travelled on the MA-19 Llucmajor to Palma motorway, a reckless act that could so easily have ended in tragedy.

The Guardia Civil are looking into the video which shows both the cyclist and van driver breaking numerous traffic laws, including crimes against road safety.
