In a bid to reduce the number of speeding motorists on the roads, thus subsequently reducing the number of speed related incidents, the DGT has published a list of mobile radar speed traps on the roads of Asturias and Castilla y León.

20150506 - Mobile Speed Trap Locations Published

The DGT already publishes national information on the location of fixed speed cameras, information which is also available on some mobile devices such as GPS units, which are legal to own on account of the information already having been published.

A recent law prohibited the use of devices which advised drivers of mobile radar traps, and so this information is now published is unique.

The measure forms part of an overall plan of transparency to ensure drivers respect speed limits on the road, and with the information published for the two areas covering the month of May, it is expected that the information will spread to other areas where speed checks are intensified, as is the case in Asturias and Castilla y León.
